Late last year as part of my role with Heartfelt I met Deb and Andrew. I am writing this post with Deb and Andrew’s blessing. They want me to tell their story and as she said the other day she is proud of their little boy and the fleeting time they had him in their lives.
Heartfelt photographers donate their time and expertise to help grieving families with the loss of a child. In the ACT we have 8 members and I am the ACT Representative. We are fortunately not that busy, but it does concern me that maybe parents do not know that this is an important service that is available here in our region.
For me it is always a very emotional time photographing for Heartfelt, as I cannot wonder what it would be like to lose a child. I feel proud to be able to use my skills as a photographer to a good use, something that will help parents and families with the loss.
BUT, this year I had the most wonderful telephone call from Deb to say she was pregnant with twins and I am so very happy for them and so happy that we meet again, and with much more happy and joyous feelings.
Every now and again in my photographic career I am part of something beautiful, and I can happily say this is one of them….
I AM SO HAPPY for their little family and and very grateful for Deb and Andrew to want to share their story. Deb in particular is such an advocate for Heartfelt and she wants everyone to know how a service like Heartfelt can help other parents through their journey of grief. Here is a few words she wrote:
“- Thank you so much for your amazing photos of Connor. You captured the
emotion of the day, and we will now have memories of him that we will
cherish forever. At the time, I remember being a little hesitant to do
it, but i’m so glad I did. We will now have gorgeous photos of Connor to
cherish – to look back on and remember the beautiful little boy he was.
Your sensitivity in taking the photos, and lovely warmth at such a
difficult time for us – and of course photographic talent! – ensured the
success of the process. What an amazing organisation – I’ve been
spreading the word, and everyone who has seen our treasured photos has
been touched. Thank you again.
So, thanks to the two of you and it was the huge-est privilege to meet your very gorgeous little girls, Sophie and Emily now that they are home from hospital and thriving. You have been through such an amazing journey this last 18 months. Connor will never be forgotten, he’ll always be your little angel and Sophie and Emily’s little big brother
