I loved photographing this crew! We almost didn’t do it, the weather was fairly ordinary and it was cold but the weather goddess came through and shined down upon our afternoon playtime.
As with any family there comes a story and Sarah, the mum’s is a bittersweet one at the moment. I really feel for what she is going through but loved her sentiment that these portraits of her family mean so much to her, especially at this very difficult time.
I often feel that family photography has become a commodity and to that I cry because to me having portraits of your family is the most important thing. I have read a quote that photographs are proof that we existed. I am unsure who said that; probably Roland Barthes in his book, Camera Lucida or maybe it was Susan Sontag…. If anyone knows please let me know…
Anyway, I have digressed….
This was a fun fun session… I love boys! Maybe me being a mum of a little boy helps, because I know what they’re like… I love the boisterousness. But then again I just love photographing kids and being silly!
Hoping you’re OK Sarah. My thoughts are with you. I loved photographing your family story.
