As wedding photographs goes this one has always pulled the heart strings… I distinctly remember thinking at the time, should I press the shutter? Grandpa’s obvious distress made me think I should retreat, but I rationalised it by knowing the bride specifically wanted me there at the hospital to capture some images. He had conflicting emotions… Yes! He was sad because he couldn’t be at her wedding, but he was soooo happy to see her and happy that she’d made the trip into Calvary Hospital for him.
THIS to me is what being a photographer is all about! It isn’t what we sell as products, or what we charge as business people it’s what we capture as recorders of our families, time in history and our social history. For me photography is more about this than making files for a DVD or USB for less than the next person!
